Williams grabbed 14 rebounds to record her ODAC leading 16th double-double of the season

LEXINGTON, Va. – For the second consecutive game, three R-MC women's basketball players scored in double-digits, with two recording double-doubles, in Tuesday's 74-68 loss to Washington and Lee. Freshman Kelly Williams (Garysburg, N.C./ Halifax Academy) scored 20 and grabbed 14 rebounds, junior Amber Lee (Rockville, Va./ Patrick Henry) scored 14 with 12 rebounds, while freshman Michal Ross (Glen Allen, Va./ Glen Allen) tallied 12 points. 

R-MC drops to 10-9 and 5-6 in the ODAC while the Generals improve to 9-10 and 5-6 in the ODAC. R-MC defeated W&L 84-76 in Ashland back in November.

The Yellow Jackets trailed for a majority of the first half with W&L leading by as many as 10. R-MC pulled within six points with 1:13 remaining in the second period and would go on a 6-0 run to end the half tied at 33, capped off by a steal and layup from sophomore Jayla Wade (Newport News, Va./ Heritage) with six seconds remaining.

Amber Lee led the Yellow Jackets at the half with 10 points, five rebounds and two assists.

R-MC took its first lead of the game in the third period after Lee grabbed an offensive rebound and put the layup in, making the score 38-36. R-MC and W&L would end the third period with both teams deadlocked at 49 points.

The Generals outscored the Yellow Jackets 25-19 to take the decision.

R-MC outrebounded W&L 45-25. Williams grabbed 14 rebounds to record her ODAC leading 16th double-double of the season. R-MC registered 12 assists on the night, Lee and senior Taylor Intermill (Fairfax, Va./ Fairfax) led the team with three each.

R-MC finished the night with 11 blocks. Lee recorded a season best six, while Williams contributed with three.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday, February 4 when they host Guilford for the 28th annual Back to the Hive game.
