Littleton police and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are conducting a homicide probe after receiving a report Thursday afternoon.
Chief Winifred Bowens said the department responded to an apartment on Oak Street shortly after 12:30 p.m. and discovered 68-year-old Cleveland Alston lying on the kitchen floor.
Nothing appeared to be missing from the apartment and investigators are still trying to determine motive, Bowens said.
SBI Special Agent Walter Brown said the bureau and the police department are declining to discuss the manner of the victim’s death at this time.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police department at 252-586-3413 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
