Counterfeit clothing was seized from a Weldon business today and its owners arrested, according to the City County Drug Task Force.
A task force statement released by the Weldon Police Department said agents executed a search warrant at a business, which rrspin learned is called Divas, located in the 200 block of Washington Avenue around 1 p.m.
The search warrant was the result of an investigation by Agent C.A. Parker which lasted for several months.
The statement indicated $77,000 worth of counterfeit clothing items were seized.
The search of the business, which was done with the assistance of a private investigator, yielded 33 boxes of evidence, according to the statement. The PI, Captain A.M. Harris said, helped agents identify the bogus merchandise.
Parker arrested and charged Adam Flowers, 36, and Audrey Laverne Flowers, 42, for felony possession of counterfeit trademark.
They received $3,000 bonds and March 1 court dates.

Scotland Neck arrest
In an unrelated matter, agents of the task force arrested Markell Wiggins, 31, of Scotland Neck, for possession of a firearm by a felon.
Harris said agents are familiar with Wiggins and went to his residence on Bear Lane looking for drugs around 7 this morning.
The Hazardous Entry and Arrest Team of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the execution of a search warrant based on an investigation by Agent D.W. McKeel.
While the search for drugs came up empty, agents did seize money and a .22-caliber long rifle.
Harris said the task force is in the process of studying Wiggins’ criminal history for possible federal adoption.
Last August Wiggins received a 36-month suspended sentence for the same crime he was charged with today, according to state Department of Public Safety records.
In 2012 he received a suspended sentence for possession with sell marijuana.
Wiggins received a $5,000 bond and March 15 court date.
