
SALEM, Va. – Four Randolph-Macon players scored in double figures, led by freshman Michal Ross (Glen Allen, Va./ Glen Allen), in #5 R-MC's 69-60 loss to #1 Lynchburg in the ODAC semifinals on Saturday night. Ross scored 15 points and went 7 of 12 from the field. Randolph-Macon finishes the season 16-12 overall and 8-8 in the ODAC.
Junior Amber Lee (Rockville, Va./ Patrick Henry) scored the first four points of the game followed by a three pointer from junior Kareema Conteh (Riverdale, Md./ Parkdale) to give R-MC a 7-0 lead. The Hornets would outscore R-MC 19-14 in the first.
The Yellow Jackets trailed 21-14 early in the second period but would go on a 14-4 run and take a 28-25 lead. Randolph-Macon would trail by five at the half.
R-MC came out hot in the third quarter. Freshman Kelly Williams (Garysburg, N.C./ Halifax Academy) made the first two buckets of the second half to pull within one point.
The Hornets would go on to outscore R-MC 14-11 in the final period.
Williams recorded her 23rd double-double of the season scoring 14 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Williams finishes the season with 517 points, which is sixth in R-MC history for a single season. She finishes with an R-MC record for rebounds in a single season, recording 367.
Ross finished with 15 points, five steals and three rebounds. Lee recorded her fifth double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and bringing down 10 rebounds. The fourth player to score double-digits was Conteh, who had 10 points.
