The Halifax Academy Lady Vikings soccer team started off their 2017 season Friday night at the Community Christian Soccer Showcase in Wilson, NC playing The Burlington School.
Halifax won by a 8-0 shutout with a balanced attack and plenty of playing time for all the girls. "With several new players, this game allowed them to get on the field to start understanding their role in a competitive game," stated Halifax head coach Tim George. "The starters kicked the season off with some unselfish passing and very good possession of the ball," George added.
Scoring for Halifax consisted of a hat trick (3 Goals) by Whitney George, 2 goals a piece by Holly Forsht and Abby George and a goal by Maddie Suiter.
"The defense had a solid game led by Anna Garrett and Kate Starnes," George also added.
Halifax Academy will be tested Saturday as they play NCISAA 1A State runner-up from 2016, Hickory Christian at 11am in the CCS showcase.
