The Roanoke Rapids High School Varsity Yellow Jackets Baseball team won their conference opener at Warren County on Friday night by a score of 11-0.
Colby Warren picked up the win on the mound for the Jackets. Warren pitched 4 innings of 1 hit ball, striking out 10 batters. Tyler Shearin pitched 2 innings of no hit ball, striking out 3 batters in relief.
The Yellow Jackets had 10 hits on offense. Colby Warren was once again the big hitter on the night. Warren had 4 hits including a 2 run homerun and 3 RBI. Other leading hitters were Aaron Jackson with 2 hits (1 RBI), Marcus Allen with 1 hit, Tyler Shearin with 1 hit (1 RBI), Cameron Rogerson 1 hit (1 RBI), and Jordan Collins with 1 hit(1 RBI).
Post game RRHS Coach Mark Snead stated, "This was a total team win tonight. Everyone on the team came up big and helped lead us to this victory. I am excited about how our whole team played tonight. The guys know this could be a magical season and are working hard together to get better each day. That's all you can ask for as a coach."
With the win, the Varsity Jackets improves to 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Northern Carolina Conference.
The Yellow Jackets will have their home opener on Monday with a non-conference matchup against Northern Nash. Game time is set for 5 pm.
