Weldon Charger football's Kevin Arrington signed his letter of intent to continue his football career at the college level at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg NC as a St. Andrews Knight.
The 2017 Roanoke Valley Early College in Weldon senior sat in Weldon High's media Center Thursday surrounded by his parents, coaches and school staff as he signed to play football as a knight at St. Andrews.
Arrington began playing football at the age of 6 for Roanoke Rapids Pop-warner team the rockers. After the Rockers disbanded he went over to the Weldon Chargers Halifax/Northampton Youth Football League team. That Charger team went undefeated as regular season champs but loss the playoff title. When Arrington was in the 7th grade as a Weldon Middle school Charger the team won the Middle school regular season and the play-off title.
As a freshman in High School, Arrington took over as a starter in mid-season were the team had good career couple playoff runs. Arrington had his best year as a Junior for the Chargers with 1,700 yards passing with 20 passing touchdowns along with 600 rushing yard and 6 touchdowns.
"I'm very excited for Kevin, St. Andrews is getting an excellent Student Athlete, a young man with unlimited potential," stated Weldon Football head coach Grady Williams.
Arrington is at pace to graduate with his associates degree and high school diploma in June of 2017. Arrington is the son of Timberly and Alvin Arrington. "We Just want to thank GOD for blessing us with him," stated Arrington's father Alvin.
