The Halifax Academy women's soccer team had a rough weekend dropping two games.
The Lady Vikings lost their first game Friday evening at home to Community Christian by a score of 4-2.
Abby George scored on a penalty kick and Holly Forsht scored with an assist from Maddie Suiter
Post match comment by head coach Tim George, "The Vikings played well and had a considerable possession advantage but couldn't find the goal often enough, out- shooting their opponents 30-12. We had a lot of good looks at the goal, it was just one of those nights where nothing would go in for the girls."
On Saturday, The Halifax Academy lady Vikings played in the Brittany Showcase in Wilson, NC, participating alongside approximately 80 other high school teams from throughout the state.
The Vikings were paired up against Clinton High School and lost by a score of 6-1.
Post Match comments by head coach Tim George, "The girls played well and with a lot of heart, but were outmatched by a very well skilled team. We took this as a game where we tried a few different formations to see how to strengthen the team as we begin conference play this week. Anna Garrett played very well in the midfield with Abby George scoring the lone goal for the Vikings unassisted."
Congratulations to Hailey Eason who won the Sportsmanship Award for the team.
