The Roanoke Rapids High School Lady Yellow Jackets traveled to Durham Monday afternoon to battle the Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs.
The Jackets had eight hits and finished with 17 runs while the Bulldogs had one hit and finished with two runs. Jackets won 17-2.
Lauren Oliver earned the win pitching four complete innings for the Jackets allowing one hit, striking out six batters, no walks and hit one player by pitch.
At the plate for the Jackets, Abbi Carpenter lead the team with three singles and three RBI's, Cassidy Dickens had a double and three RBI's, Paige Turner had a single and two RBI's, Lauren Oliver had a single and 2 RBI's, Lizzy Colston had a single and one RBI and Kaitlin Rogerson had a single.
Post game comments from Jackets head coach Steve Milligan, "Lauren Oliver did well on the Mound today for us. All the girls that made the trip today got a chance to play and show us what they could do. And show us what we need to work on. I am happy for the win, but we still don't play with the intensity and urgency needed to win big games."
