The Halifax Academy Lady Vikings softball team traveled to battle the 2016 State runner-up Cape Fear Christian school Monday afternoon.
The Lady Vikings battled not only the Cape Fear team but Mother Nature as well with the rain coming in the fifth inning. The Lady Vikings outlasted both winning the game 15-4 on 24 hits, two of witch were out of Park Home Runs.
Sydney Smith pitched the first five innings with Cape Fear's four runs and the rain started hard. Smith had five strike-outs in the game. Candice Smith pitched the last two innings in heavy rain with three strike-outs.
Halifax's twenty-four hits came from: Candice Smith with a single, two doubles and a homerun, Emerson Poole with three singles and a homerun, Drew Rose with three singles, a double and a triple, Ashton Garner with a single and two doubles, Karen Alston with two singles and a double, Morgan Hudomint with two singles, Sydney Smith with a single, Carly West with a single and Ella Howell with a double.
