Senior Roanoke Rapids High school Yellow Jackets football player Dre’ Terry finalized his plans for the next level on Thursday morning in the RRHS media center.
Instantly Terry was given the nickname “Hawk” when he walked on the middle school practice field to play football and ironic enough he will be an official Hawk in his collegiate level of football this fall.
Not wanting to rush the decision making process Terry wasn’t able to participate in National Signing Day back in February. Although he has been accepted into Wesleyan College, Campbell University, NCCU, NC State, Clemson, and Wingate. Terry chose Chowan University due to his passion to play football.
Terry who has been playing football ten years now started out playing his favorite sport under the leadership of the late Emmanuel Boone, former coach of Garysburg Bulldawgs midget league football. Terry played two years at Chaloner Middle as a Yellow Jacket as well. Terry moved up at RRHS, from the JV to the Varsity team during his freshman year finishing his senior season as a major contributor to the RRHS Yellow Jackets. In addition to being a team captain he ranked number 5 in leading tackles for Defensive Backs.
When asked if Terry had anything he’d like to say he replied “I feel Chowan University is a good fit for me and I’d like to thank all my supporters and coaches over the past years. I thank my mom and most importantly I must thank God!”
Accommodated by his mother DexTina Terry and coaches Dre’ Terry signed his Letter of Intent to attend Chowan University.
