The Roanoke Rapids Lady Yellow Jackets kicked of it's 2017 Battle of the Border High school softball two day tournament Friday morning.
Roanoke Rapids battled JH Rose from Greenville for the North Carolina side in game one at Roanoke Rapids High. The Yellow Jackets won the game 11-0 in 5 innings.
Roanoke Rapids pitcher Breanna Allen allowed only one hit in the five innings with 11 strike-outs and walking four batters.
The Yellow Jackets had 14 hits in the game with Abbi Carpenter the big hitter of the game with two doubles, a triple and three RBI's, Cassidy Dickens had two singles and a bunt, Breanna Allen had a single and a double, Hannah Taylor and Kelsey Beirbauer each had two singles, Michelle Stewart had a single and two RBI's, Meagan Colston had a single.
Post game comments by Jackets head coach Steve Milligan, "I am very pleased with out girls performance today."
Roanoke Rapids advanced to Saturdays Championship game at 2PM as the North Carolina team against the Virginia side's Brunswick Academy while JH Rose will battle Greenbrier Christian Academy at 11AM.
