The Chaloner Middle baseball team went undefeated (15-0) this season winning the Roanoke Middle School Athletic Conference for the 2017 season and won the 2017 Halifax Academy Easter Tournament.
On Thursday April 20th the Chaloner opened the 2017 Halifax Academy Easter tourney off against Brunswick Academy. Bennett Liverman led the Chaloner offense with 4 hits (including a double, a triple, and 9 RBI's) to help lead the Jackets to victory over Brunswick Academy by a 23-9 score. Avery Johnson had 3 hits including a double and 4 RBI's. A. J. Strickland has 3 hits and 3 RBI's. Russell Moore had 3 hits and 2 RBI's. Landon Birdsong had a double and a RBI. Jacob Edenbeck had a hit and 2 RBI's. Wade Jenkins also added a hit and RBI. Bennett Liverman was the winning pitcher pitching 4 innings and giving up 2 hits and no earned runs. He struck out 6 batters and walked two. Caleb Elias and Russell Moore finished the game for the Jackets. Caleb Elias led the Jackets on defense with excellent play at the short stop position.
On Friday April 21st, the Chaloner Jackets defeated Halifax Academy 11-0 in the championship to win the 2017 Halifax Academy Easter Tournament. Chaloner was led by the excellent pitching of A. J. Strickland on defense and the batting offense of Bennett Liverman. A. J. Strickland pitched a NO-HITTER by striking out 12 batters and walking only 4. Bennett Liverman had a perfect night at the plate with 4 hits including 2 doubles and 5 RBI's. ( Bennett had 8 hits at 9 at bats doing the tournament with a whopping 14 RBI's.) A. J. Strickland had 2 hits with 3 RBI's. Hunt Van Dam had 2 hits with 2 RBI's. (Hunt play excellent defense at 1st base including a diving catch for an out.) Avery Johnson kept up with his hitting ways by having 2 hits including a double. Lead off hitter Caleb Elias added a hit and scored 3 runs.
