Van Douglas Tanner, 62, died Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
Van was born in Roanoke Rapids, May 25, 1954, to the late Luther Lee Tanner, Sr. and Clovene Overton Tanner. He loved working with wood and loved fishing. He had a big heart and everything he did was for his family.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Brenda P. Tanner, his son, Van Douglas Tanner, Jr. and girlfriend, Amanda; daughter, Lori Tanner Denning and husband, George Jeremy; brothers, Luther Lee Tanner, Jr. and wife, Brenda Ann, Mickey Whitby, Joe Whitby, and Ray Whitby. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Nathan Tyler Denning, Trent Elias Denning and Tanner Herring.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 9, 2017, from 6-8 pm at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Kent Pulley will conduct funeral services in the chapel at Hockaday Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
