The Halifax Academy Lady Vikings soccer team advances to the 3rd round of the NCISAA 1A state playoffs with a 9-0 win against #13 seed Ridgecroft School from Ahoskie Wednesday afternoon.
The game concluded with 20 minutes remaining in the second half due to the slaughter rule.
"The #5 seed Lady Vikings started out a little slow tonight, but picked up the energy level in the second half by scoring 7 goals in the final twenty minutes," stated head Vikings coach Tim George. "This was most likely the last home game of the season as the girls finished strong on their home field," George added.
The Halifax goals were scored by Whitney George with 5, Abby George and Maddie Suiter with 2 a piece.
They now prepare for the next game scheduled for Saturday May 13th at noon in Raleigh against the #4 seed Neuse Christian Academy. The game will be played at the Endeavor Charter School in Wake Forest.
