Halifax Lady Vikings win in three innings honoring seniors

Halifax Academy softball's last 2017 regular season game was canceled, so the 2017 senior night was moved to Tuesday nights 1st round of the NCISAA 1A State playoffs.

Seniors Drew Rose and Karen Alston were honored before the playoff game escorted by their parents.

Those two seniors might have played their last High school game on Halifax's field, but they made it one to remember with #1 seed Halifax's (14-5) 15-0 three inning win over #8 seed Albemarle Academy (5-11)in the 1st round of the 1A NCISAA State Championship and advancing into the 1A NCISAA double elimination championship playoffs.

Sydney Smith pitched a no hitter in the three innings for the Lady Viking with four strikeouts, and one walk.

Emerson Poole for the Vikings had the hottest bat with two triples and a double. Other Lady Viking hitters were Morgan Hudimont and Ashlynn Liles both had two doubles, Candice Smith had a double and a single, Logan Oakley had a single and a single bunt, Ashton Garner had a double and Sydney Smith had a single.

The #1 seed Lady Vikings (15-5) travel to Greenville, home of Oakwood School for a 10AM Friday a May 19th game against #4 seed Ridgecroft (13-5). Win and the play semi-final game at 4PM Friday and if the lose Friday morning they will play a 2PM game Friday.
