The Roanoke Rapids High School Yellow Jackets Baseball team's season came to an end Tuesday night with a 2-1 loss at Edenton in the 3rd round of the NCHSAA 2A State Playoffs.
The Aces scored single runs in the first and second innings to take a 2-0 lead.
The Yellow Jackets responded with a run in the top of the third inning when with bases loaded and 2 outs, Cameron Rogerson stole home. Unfortunately for RRHS this would be their only run of the game.
The rest of the game was a pitching duel between Colby Warren and Edenton's Dylan Patrick. Both pitchers kept the opposing teams scoreless the remainder of the game.
Coach Mark Snead stated, "I want to thank each young man for all they have done to make this such a special season. For the seniors who played their final game tonight (Marcus Allen, Tommy Bradley, Jordan Collins, Hunter Connell, Josh Elias, Bracy Irby, Cameron Rogerson, Tyler Shearin, and Colby Warren) thank you for your dedication, hard work, and love of the game and each other. You have shown the younger players how it should be done. Don't let this one loss take away from the lifelong memories and friendships you have made. Thank you to the entire 2017 RRHS Baseball team for a great year. It was my pleasure to be your coach."
The Yellow Jackets finish the season with a record of 20-4.
