The Roanoke Valley Girls Softball League Under 16 al-stars opened Area Tournament play Saturday afternoon in Currituck.
Roanoke Valley lost 6-5 to Cashie in nine innings.
At the plate for Roanoke Valley: Cassidy Dickens went 2-3 with a single and a double; Caitlin Bobbitt went 1-3 with a single; Madison Etheridge went 1-3 with a single; Riley Landen went 1-3 with a single; Taylor Wade had two walks; Kayla Gaertner went 1-2 on a RBI Double, HBP; Morgan Bankert went 1-3 on a 2 RBI double; Abbey Goodwin Sacrifice RBI.
Cassidy Dickens pitched nine innings striking out five batters and allowed no walks.
Roanoke Valley will play Cashie in game two Sunday.
