The Roanoke Rapids High school Lady Jackets basketball team got back on the winning track this week.
With cancellations and reschedules, already in this young season, things have been hectic.
On Tuesday night the Jackets hosted Southern Vance and came away with a 66-56 victory. Anna Vann led the scoring with 23, Michelle Stewart 12, Abbi Carpenter 10, Taylor Medlin 10, Elena Miller 7, and Camden Bierbauer added 4. "Southern Vance is a very young team and will be one to look out for going down the stretch of the conference season," said Jackets head coach Jim Whitmire.
Wednesday night the Jackets hosted, newcomer to the conference, J.F. Webb. The Jackets came away with another win 49-38. "Webb proved to be the fastest team we have played this season," said Whitmire. The scoring was led by Anna Vann with 21, Michelle Stewart 14, Elena Miller 5, Abbi Carpenter 4, Taylor Medlin 3, Reauna Robinson 2.
The Jackets will host conference rival South Granville on Friday at 6:00pm.
Wednesday night's game marked a very special achievement for Anna Vann. With the 21 points, she has reached 1,000 points in her high school career. This is an achievement that is seldom reached by any high school athlete, much less early in the junior year. "Anna is a tremendous competitor and continues improve as she hopes to pursue basketball at the next level," stated coach Whitmire. CONGRATULATIONS ANNA - 1,000 POINTS
