The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:
On Monday at approximately 8 p.m., Officer A. Green conducted a traffic stop on East Tenth Street near Park Avenue for a violation.
The driver, Shaylin Paige Carter, 21, of Roanoke Rapids, was found to have narcotics and paraphernalia in her possession.
Green arrested and charged her with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
She received a $1,500 bond and February 16 court date.
Master Officer J. Hardy and Officer C. Hagbourne assisted.
On Monday at approximately 10:30 p.m., Officer D. Bybee attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for a violation on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.
The driver failed to stop for blue lights and siren. He then turned on Georgia Avenue and stopped on Oakridge Drive.
Ra’quan Ta’shawn Cain, 16, was arrested and charged with fleeing to elude arrest.
He was released to a responsible party and has a March 16 court date.
