
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Hayley Heath (Halifax Academy) of the Virginia Wesleyan University women's swim team has been named the Marlin of the Week for the week ending on Feb. 11, 2018.
Heath had an impressive outing this weekend, settin mulitple new school records at teh Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships.
Individually, the junior clocked four personal bests, three of which became new school records. Heath set a 1:03.42 in the 100-yard free (VWU record) before clocking a 1:15.27 in the 100-yd backstroke (VWU record). The Skippers, Va. native pulled home her last record of the weekend in the 200-yd IM as she touched the wall in 2:42.10.
Heath also played a major part in the relays, helping set program records in all four relays she competed in. In the 200-yd freestyle relay, she swam the final leg to help set a time of 2:02.69 while in the 400-yd relay she took on the third leg (4:29.90). Heath would swim the third leg in both the 200-yd medley (2:18.21) and the 400-yd medley (5:09.86) to help set records in those as well.
Heath and the rest of the Marlin squad finished 10th at the ODAC Championships, amassing a total of 81 team points.
