ASHLAND, Va. – Sophomore Kelly Williams (Garysburg, N.C./Halifax Academy) has added an academic award to her collection on the same day she was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's top player of 2017-18.
Williams has been selected as a College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District team member.
Williams is one of six team members representing District 5 – which encompasses Division III schools in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Williams is one of four ODAC members on the list.
Williams, an accounting major, has succeeded on the court as well as in the classroom. She was named the ODAC Player of the Year earlier Thursday as well as securing her place on the All-ODAC First Team.
Academic All-District team members become eligible in voting for the Academic All-American awards that will be announced next month.
#2 R-MC takes the court against #7 Bridgewater tonight at 6:00 PM in an ODAC Quarterfinal game at the Salem Civic Center.
