A Roanoke Rapids man died Thursday in a single-vehicle crash in the Gaston area.
According to a preliminary report by Trooper J.T. Keeter of the state Highway Patrol, Matthew Porch was traveling west on Lebanon Church Road shortly after 3:30 p.m. when he crossed the centerline and ran off the road to the left.
The vehicle collided with a mailbox and a ditch and then overturned several times.
Porch, 54, was wearing a seatbelt.
Contributing factors include speed and weather conditions.
