A Roanoke Rapids man faces a March 21 first appearance in district court after child sex offense charges were lodged against him.
Albert Wayne Sechrist, 54, faces charges of indecent liberties with a minor, sexual act as sub-parent/custodian and statutory sex offense with a child under the age of 15, Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Detective S.A. Bryant, who investigated the case, said the sub-parent count reflects Sechrist acted in a parental or custodial role with the victim. The alleged acts were reported by a family member.
Hall said the alleged offenses occurred from August of 2016 through last October and were reported last November.
Sechrist was arrested last month.
