ASHLAND, Va. – Sophomore Kelly Williams (Garyburg, N.C./Halifax Academy) has been selected by national sports magazine, Sports Illustrated, to be featured as a "Face in the Crowd." The section features athletes from across the country excelling in their respective sports. Williams is featured in the latest edition of the magazine, which is on newsstands and dated for today, March 12, 2018.
Williams was a national leader across much of the season for points per game, rebounds per game and blocks per game and, at times, led in all three categories. Her performance in the ODAC Tournament Final against Emory & Henry was directly featured by SI. In that game, Williams collected 31 points and 20 rebounds. Williams, also named the conference's Player of the Year and Tournament's Most Outstanding Player, set new tournament records for total points scored (79) and total rebounds (60) in a single ODAC Tournament.
Williams is the first Randolph-Macon women's basketball player to be featured as a "Face" since Megan Silva in the April 17, 2006 edition.
