RRPD roundup: BB gun larceny; computer tower gutted

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects involved in separate larcenies at Walmart.

The first involves a case on March 7 around 3 p.m. in which a man entered the store and stole multiple BB guns and BBs, said Investigator Jonathan Benthall, who is investigating the case.

As the man prepared to leave the store, an employee asked for the receipt and the man abandoned the guns and fled from the store, Captain Bobby Martin said in a statement.

The second case involves a woman who entered the store on March 5 around noon and bought a processor tower for a desktop computer.

After 25 minutes, the woman came back and returned the computer, employees discovering the components inside the tower had been stolen prior to its return.

Benthall said stolen from the tower was a video card, Intel processor, RAM memory, and a solid state hard drive. One hard drive was left in the tower.

Benthall said the tower was possibly gutted for personal use or resale.

Value of the stolen components is between $1,250 to $1,350.

The woman was last seen driving a newer model Nissan possibly bearing handicapped plates.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-533-2810, Benthall at 252-533-2898, or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
