Deciding against the popular opinion of where he should further his education Roanoke Rapids High School 2017 graduate Dre’ Terry couldn’t be more pleased with his decision to attend Chowan University.
Terry's only focus was which route he should take to be able to play football. Because of Terry's talent, he was certain he would be able to participate in National signing day back in February 2017. Unable to do so, Terry learned to never assume and to never give up. Once realizing plan A fail through, Terry proceeded to plan B which was to be a walk-on. April 13th 2017, Terry committed to Chowan as a walk-on believing his talent will be recognized eventually.
Terry finished his freshman season as a two time Rookie of the Week recipient, having a total of 49 tackles ranking #4 on his team, earning his football scholarship in addition to his academic scholarship for the upcoming season, he was also recognized for being on the Dean’s List.
During the Chowan University’s football ceremony Dre’ along with freshman quarterback Bryce Witt won the vote for having made the most positive impact on the team this year allowing them the receive this years’ Rookie Class Award.
Congratulations Dre’ Terry for your accomplishments and for being a true example and perseverance, dedication and hard work.
You can watch him on the Chowan University Hawk’s field this fall wearing the #33 jersey.
