The #5 seed Roanoke Rapids High School Lady Yellow Jackets soccer team fell to #5 seed Carrboro Jaguars 5-1 Tuesday night in the 3rd round of the 2A NCHSAA State Soccer Championship Play-offs at Carrboro.
Catherine MacNichol scored the lone goal for the Jackets on a penalty kick.
Elena Miller had 12 saves in the goal and Hannah Moseley had 10 saves for the Jackets.
Post match comments from Lady Jackets head coahch Craig Jean, "We never settled down - I credit Carrboro for keeping us on our heels for the entire first half. I put Elena Miller on the field for the second half to get us a spark and for about 25 min we were close, but they put us away for good with about 11 min to go when it went from 2-1 to 5-1 quickly. Still, 18-1 was great season. This group of players was so much fun to coach because they valued and appreciated playing soccer for RRHS. We lose 4 seniors, Abbey Acree, Laura Brown, Karalee Miller and Elena Miller. I appreciate their roles in our success this season and getting our program back on the right path."
