Weldon High School's sophomore Ysade Sykes earned the 1A NCHSAA Men's High Jump Championship this past weekend at NC A&T State University in the 1A State Track Meet Championship.
Weldon's track coach Hargrove stated, "This is Sykes second year participating in track and Ysade jumped 6ft 4" and says Sykes has set 7 feet as his goal for next year. I am proud of him and his film study habits, he has watched past greats and says he going break all records and is very respectful. Track is his second love, with Basketball being his first."
