In a statement today the Halifax County Democratic Party announced it will convene a meeting Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to open the floor for nominations in order to make a recommendation to the board of commissioners to fill the unexpired term of the District 3 Commissioner Rachel Hux.
The meeting will be at the Lloyd Andrews City Meeting Hall on Jackson Street in Roanoke Rapids.
“Although we continue to feel saddened by the passing of Commissioner Rachel Hux, it is critical that the Democratic Party of Halifax County convene a meeting on Thursday, Nov 3, 2016 at 5:30 p.m.
“The purpose of this meeting is to make a recommendation to the Halifax County Board of Commissioners of a resident to fill the unexpired term of The Honorable Rachel Hux and appoint a Democratic Party nominee to replace the vacancy created by The Honorable Rachel Hux.”
