The 1st Annual "Team Mike" Middle School basketball Tournament set to tip off Wednesday at William R. Davie Middle School.
William R. Davie, Gaston College Prep, Weldon Middle boys and girls along with Chaloner Middle girls and Emporia Virginia's Wyatt Middle boys basketball teams will battle for a championship.
Davie athletics will be running the concession stand while the tournament and raffle will help raise funds for "Team Mike" for funds for the annual Team Mike Newsome Scholarships for High school senior athletes at Halifax Academy, KIPP High and Roanoke Rapids. All three schools the Late Mike Newsome coached.
This year event will have two girls and two boys games Wednesday December 21st and the losers games Thursday followed by winners Championship games:

There will be concessions and raffle tickets for sale with top prize is a 43 inch LG TV donated by Today's Electronics.
Admission is $5 per person and children 5 years old and younger are free
