
The Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets traveled to Chapel Hill this past Thursday for the two day "Tiger Invitational" wrestling meet.
Roanoke Rapids wrestlers placed 29th out of 44 teams.
Antonio Lawrence at 285 lbs for Roanoke Rapids received the highest place finish placing 6th.
Robert Weber at 170 lbs placed top 12.
Matthew Norton at 220, Nathan Dixon at 182 placed top 16 while Ethan Dixon at 120, Tony Mason at 152 and Christopher Rogers at 195 placed top 24.
Roanoke Rapids wrestling head coach DA White stated, "It was a great tournament to expose our kids to. We wrestled hard and I was proud of the way our kids wrestled against larger schools."
"Antonio Lawrence wrestled eight matches to place top 6 and I was very pleased with his effort and look forward to seeing him grow into the season", White added.
Roanoke Rapids next match is a tri match at NC School of Science and Math and Durham Hillside on Wednesday January 4th at 5:00 pm
