
BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's basketball team improved to 2-1 in ODAC play with an impressive 81-54 win over Bridgewater on Tuesday night.
Freshman Kelly Williams (Garysburg, N.C./ Halifax Academy) registered her eighth double-double of the season, scoring 20 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.
Williams, who was this weeks' ODAC Player of the Week, continued the great start to her R-MC career as she tallied a career best six blocks while also recording two steals and an assist. She was 9 of 14 from the field in the game.
The Yellow Jackets (7-4, 2-1 ODAC) shot 43 percent from the field in the win over the Eagles (7-5, 0-3 ODAC). R-MC outrebounding the hosts 57-35.
Five minutes into the first quarter, the Yellow Jackets led Bridgewater 11-10. R-MC then went on a 14-0 run in the final five minutes to give itself a 25-10 lead heading into the second quarter.
R-MC headed into the half with a 39-26 lead. The Yellow Jackets dominated the boards versus the Eagles, outrebounding them 30-15.
The Eagles started to cut the lead down in the third quarter, but with the score at 45-35, R-MC would go on a 10-1 run. R-MC outscored Bridgewater in the third period 24-17.
Freshman guard Michal Ross (Glen Allen, Va./ Glen Allen) was part of the R-MC bench that tallied 24 points in the win. She recorded 13 points, six rebounds and two assists on the night.
R-MC scored 18 points off of 19 Bridgewater turnovers. Junior Marisha Berry (Powhatan, Va./ Powhatan) had a team high seven steals.
For the Eagles, Jessica Lam led the team with 15 points.
R-MC will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to Emory & Henry at 2 p.m.
