More than 300 coats were collected during a drive over the Christmas holiday season as part of a charitable endeavor between the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and Oak Grove Baptist Church in Littleton.

Distribution of the coats began today at the church and Pastor C.E, McCollum said what coats were not handed out this morning would be available for distribution Monday during the church’s MLK Day observances.
“We were helped with citizen donations,” Sheriff Wes Tripp said at the church this morning.
Cut-N-Up Salon on Becker Drive served as a drop-off point for the coats and the establishment offered specials during the endeavor. “We’d like to thank the generosity of the community for making this happen,” the sheriff said. “Halifax County has been good to me over the past 32 years. It’s part of giving back and serving all of Halifax County.”
Tripp said the sheriff’s office will do another coat drive this year.
