A widespread search for a missing man in the area of the old airport this afternoon ended with no signs of him.
“There was no evidence discovered that would help us,” Captain Bobby Martin of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said this afternoon.
Martin said the police department and Halifax County Sheriff’s Office asks “the public to contact us or local law enforcement to contact us” to make sure Gary Joe Youngblood is OK.
The report Youngblood was missing was received on August 5, Martin said earlier today.
The problem, Martin told those gathered for a briefing at the Davie Volunteer Fire Department, was no pertinent information on the circumstances behind his disappearance was received until recently.
First responders and law enforcement searched a wide swath of woods in the area of Sunset Crest Lane with responders going on foot and by ATV.
