The Roanoke Rapids High School Varsity Baseball team lost their season opener at Rocky Mount High School by a score of 2-0 on Monday night.
The Yellow Jackets had two hits on the night with Tyler Shearin and Hunter Connell each had singles in the game.
Colby Warren took the loss on the mound for the Jackets pitching 4 innings. Warren gave up 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits. Jordan Collins pitched 2 shutout innings of 2 hit balls in relief.
Post game comments by Roanoke Rapids head coach Mark Snead, "We played a pretty good game, but just couldn't hit the ball like we know we can. Colby and Jordan pitched solid innings and gave us a chance to win. We have to have a short memory and get ready for tomorrow night against Northern Nash. I know the guys will come out hungry and be ready to play."
The Yellow Jackets next game is on Tuesday night February 28th at Northern Nash a game time of 4:30 pm.
