GRAND RAPIDS, Mi. – Freshman women's basketball player Kelly Williams (Garysburg, N.C./ Halifax Academy) was honored by being named to the WDIII News Freshman All-American Team.
Williams has also picked up the ODAC Player of the Year, ODAC All-First Team, D3hoops All-South Region Rookie of the Year, All-South Region Second team and Richmond Times Dispatch Small College All-State Team awards.
D III News released the five All-American teams, honorable mention team and the All-Freshman Team, which included the top 10 freshman in the nation.
Williams had a record-breaking rookie season, she averaged 18.5 points per game and 13.1 rebounds per game throughout the season. Williams led the ODAC in rebounds per game, total rebounds (367), offensive rebounds (136), defensive rebounds (231) and points per 40 minutes (26.2). She finished the season with an ODAC best 23 double-doubles. She broke the R-MC single-season rebound record, recording 367 total rebounds. The Yellow Jackets finished the season 16-12, finished fifth in the ODAC and made an appearance in the ODAC semifinals.
Williams had a career high 30 points in the final regular season game of the year against Hollins. She had her best rebounding night in the ODAC quarterfinals with 22 against Eastern Mennonite.
