Luther "Punch" Walker found his eternal peace on September 1, 2016.

He was born on January 3, 1921.
He entered into service with the U.S. Army on December 20, 1942, and served honorably in the Rhineland Central Group in World War II as a Private First Class.
Upon his return from service overseas, he found his community in need of a place of worship and a church in need of a congregation.
After a door to door effort, Punch assembled 10 members and re-opened the doors for service in what is now Bethlehem Christian Church on Eaton's Ferry Road.
Throughout the following years he had an active role in his home church and served faithfully as lay-preacher, deacon, and Sunday school superintendent.
On February 8, 1950 Punch married his wife of 66 years, Lucy Walker, and fathered three children: Ann Stainback, James Walker, and Becky Walker.
Punch was a dedicated member of his church, a faithful and caring husband, a loving and understanding father, and a concerned member of his community.
He enjoyed bird hunting and training his bird dogs, any kind of fishing, farming and gardening, and just "piddling" in general.
He was the master of the "30 minute job" that always seemed to take all day, and worked hard to provide for those he loved and set an appropriate example to live by in both character and attitude.
His family and friends will miss terribly his stories and tales, of which he had many; for every occasion.
He is survived by his wife and children, two grandsons: Matt Moriarty and Nick Jenkins, and two great grand-children: Elijah Moriarty and Isaiah Moriarty. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Bethlehem Christian Church on Eaton's Ferry Road and Home Health and Hospice of Halifax County.
Visitation will be Saturday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home in Littleton.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Bethlehem Christian Church on Eaton’s Ferry Road.
