Interested in becoming a basketball ref

Are you a sports fan who wants to really 'get in the game'? Are you looking to stay near the game that you loved to play as a child or youth?  Are you looking for a way to stay active?

Here is a great idea-officiating.  There is an introductory meeting scheduled at the Roanoke Rapids High School Media Center (Library) on August 28 at 6:30 PM.  This meeting is for new potential officials and will cover how to get in to officiating for all sports. It will last about 30 minutes.

There is a need for officials in all sports and at all levels.  The time to act is now for the winter sports such as wrestling and basketball as officials are beginning to prepare.  Soccer and football are already started, but you can prepare for next season.  Baseball and softball preparation will be occurring in the winter in preparation for the spring.

At the meeting, you can meet local assignors, other officials, and find out about the requirements to becoming a sports official, including the deadlines to register for each sport.  Information will be available regarding recreation leagues, middle school, high school, and even college level sports.
