Blue steel members load bikes for delivery.

Organizations and individuals took time last week to serve those during the Christmas holiday by giving back to the community.

Blue Steel Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club of North Carolina donated 10 bicycles to local law enforcement agencies.

The local motorcycle club comprised of law enforcement officers, veterans, firefighters, and civilians raised money through various fundraisers in order to put several Roanoke Valley children on two wheels this Christmas. The bicycles were donated to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office and the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

Clinton Williams of CW Counseling Services invited families in the area to a dinner at Carolina Barbecue.

More than 70 families attended the dinner and children received gifts.

More than 50 children were the beneficiaries of a Christmas toy distribution in partnership with Roanoke Valley Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Oak Grove Baptist Church and Six 38 Dance Ministry.

The benefactor of the distribution was the Amsterdam & Partners LLP, an award winning International Crisis Law Firm based in Washington and London.

SCLC president and Oak Grove pastor Charles E.McCollum received the items along with  Phyllis Caine, community service consultant, Halifax County DSS, Oak Grove and Six 38 member and Kevin Kimble, executive director of American Innovation & Opportunity Fund-Workforce Development.

The distribution took place through DSS last week.
