The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:
Investigators G.L. Williams and O.L. Wiltsie Thursday arrested and charged Kunta Kunte Shearin, 39, of Roanoke Rapids, with breaking/entering, larceny after breaking/entering, two counts possession of stolen goods, damage to property, and larceny.
He received a $16,000 bond and January 3 court date.
The charges stem from two different crimes investigated by Williams.
The first was reported on October 12 when Shearin allegedly took items from Family Dollar on Highway 158.
The second was reported Monday at approximately 3:15 a.m. when officers responded to an alarm at Family Dollar on Highway 158 and found the glass door shattered and items removed.
Williams developed Shearin as the alleged suspect after reviewing the store surveillance videos.
