Jackets Magic show continues in State play-offs

The Roanoke Rapids High School Lady Yellow Jackets soccer team advance to the 3rd round of the 2A NCHSAA State Championship Play-offs with a Magical show at Hoyle field Saturday night.

The #5 seed Roanoke Rapids (18-0) team beat the #12 seed East Duplin 10-4.

For the Jackets, Catherine MacNichol had five goals (2 penalty kicks), Elena Miller  had a "Hat Trick" three goals and Ella King had two goals.

Lady Jackets Catherine MacNichol,  Taylor Epps and Ella King all had one assist each.

While goalie Hannah Moseley had 24 saves in the goal.

Post match comments from Jackets coach Craig Jean, "First thing, Hannah Moseley, our GK, had the game of her life.  She made 5 or 6 saves early on point blank within 6 yards that otherwise could have made this game different. She had 24 saves and stepped up and elevated her game at the right time. East Duplin was a very good team. We've got a lot of good players on our team, but our 3 up  top offer a special talented attack. I hate that we gave up a few late, but we are happy to be moving on. I am very proud of my team's effort today in the extreme heat.  I'm glad we bought at least 3 more days together because this is such a wonderful group to be apart of. We get the winner of DSA/Carrboro, which will be our toughest game so far.  It's great to be back in the 3rd round,  but we do want more."

The Jacket will play 3th round Wednesday May 16th, at #2 seed Carrboro.
