Jackets win Championship

The Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets men's basketball team beat Southeast Halifax Trojans Friday night earning the 2016 Northampton County Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament Championship.

The Roanoke Rapids team beat Southeast Halifax 72-65.

Post game comments from Roanoke Rapids head coach Tyler Snyder, "Southeast is a good team. You go into a game with a plan and when a player starts out on fire, you scratch the plan and try to find a way to stop him. They were a tough team defensively and very athletic. It seemed at times we let them get us out of our comfort zone and play out of control. I'm very proud of how this team didn't give up and fought back."

Coach added, "With wining this Championship, I'm looking for us to build off of it and continue to play better basketball. We still make some mistakes and with conference play picking up next week we need to be firing on all cylinders."
