The family of a missing Roanoke Rapids man has established a reward fund for information which helps to explain his disappearance.
Captain Bobby Martin of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said the reward is specifically for information on where Gary Joe Youngblood is at or what happened to him.
For Leann Bryant, who is married to Youngblood’s cousin, the announcement of the reward is another method of trying to gain information about his disappearance
Bryant has handed out flyers and she and her husband go looking for him on their own. She will be handing out flyers at Saturday’s Ducky Derby at River Falls Park in Weldon. “I’m at a loss.”
Bryant wants people to look at his disappearance the way they would if it were their own family member who was missing. “What if the shoe was on the other foot? Joe is someone’s child. We really need someone to come up and tell us something.”
Bryant believes someone knows what happened and has information. She says if they don’t feel comfortable talking to police, they can talk to her. “I think there’s people that know. Someone knows.”
The offer of the reward comes after Roanoke Rapids police put Youngblood’s name into a Department of Justice database.
Youngblood was reported missing from the old airport area of Roanoke Rapids August 6.
